Verifying your story
In the Kamishibai Options dialog, there is a check box which you should
make use of when creating a story. This check box is "Validate file on
Load". When this is checked, every time you load a story, Kamishibai will
run some validation tests on the story. The validation tests will make sure
all images, sounds, and music referenced in the gamefile.txt file are really
there, that all options have links and that all links go to a valid scene,
and that the Title scene has a @Name,
@Author, and @Artist property.
Any errors are reported to you, including the line number so you can quickly fix the
problem.
MAKE SURE YOU SET THE "VALIDATE ON LOAD" SWITCH AND THEN LOAD YOUR STORY!
ONLY THEN CAN YOU SUBMIT YOUR STORY!
I have
received more than a few Kamishibai where something was missing.
A second option, available in v1.02 and later of Kamishibai, is the "List
Unused Resources". Load your story and select this from the Game menu. A dialog
box is displayed showing all the resources that exist in your story
directory but that aren't used in the story itself. This dialog box allows you
to remove resources that aren't used but that would take up space in the
archive. Note that the files are deleted from your Kamishibai story folder so
make sure you have copies before deleting!
One thing Kamishibai doesn't do is check your spelling and punctuation.
If at all possible, please run your story through
a spell checker before sending it!
